What are Quortex Pools ?
Quortex applications such as Play or Link are configured by Pools. This article defines the Pool configuration object.
in Quortex, a pool is the first configuration object you need to create before defining applications configurations (such as a live stream for Play, or a distribution stream for Link).
A pool is defined by:
An input region: a list of ingest regions spread across the globe is proposed. You should select the nearest region to our input streams.
A streaming region: this is the delivery region(s). You can select world regions, and filter by country.
A name
All application configurations of a pool share these common settings.
You can create other pools if you need to have different input and streaming regions.
The following settings are controlled at pool level:
OTT publication: enables or disabled the availability of output URLs. Publication is enabled by default. If you disable it, all URL of the pool will become unavailable for end users.
OTT endpoint path prefix: Optionally enter a path prefix for OTT endpoints: every playlist and segment URL will start with this prefix
Custom domain: You may set a custom domain name (i.e. live.mycompany.com) in the stream URLs instead of the autogenerated one (i.e. 1a2skzly.live.quortex.io).
Time shifting: Enables the startover feature and the generation of long playlists.
API Keys: API keys are required to use the API over an authenticated connection.
From the left menu, click on "Add a pool":
Specify the input region, streaming region, and name your pool:
Follow the wizard to create a first your first configuration for your application (the wizard depends on the application).
At the end of the wizard, the pool is created with its first configuration and the pool details are shown:
With the introduction of premium processing features (low latency, UHD and HEVC), premium pools were added.
